To have hired that done would have cost A LOT, at least here in the States.

Since we live in a heavily wooded area, we've always got trees (mostly birch and poplar) that need taking down. Hubby and I have done hundreds of them over the years, but it's not a job I feel happy about until they are safely down on the ground. We, too, always use them for firewood if they're not punky.Mama Peahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03649357184167949247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078806588853616263.post-14014031751930456322016-05-03T11:15:20.584+01:002016-05-03T11:15:20.584+01:00We have several trees on our lot. It must be very old because at some time in its life it looks like it has been completely lopped across its top, as in pollarding. We have contacted someone and hope that they get back to us soon. I think it is too far for your brother to come and sort it out!Verahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13235143664894609891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078806588853616263.post-12177219746207017252016-05-02T16:04:55.305+01:002016-05-02T16:04:55.305+01:00I have one HUGE Oak that we named 'The Royal O...I have one HUGE Oak that we named 'The Royal Oak' to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. We have a Magnolia in our back garden, which we keep to a smaller size by trimming back each year. We had a tree surgeon the 1st year, I now treat it like a tall shrub and use loppers to keep it in shape.
