The bottom of her trunk was easily as big around as a small car. She was hollow inside and had been home to all manner of critters over the years.

Missouri has been suffering from a disease that has been killing a lot of oaks and many of them that are dying have also been in livestock pastures which cause them to become hollow inside too. The loggers around here typically won't bother with trees that have had cattle grazing around them. They say they are always hollow.
PioneerPreppyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269878017447335944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078806588853616263.post-68223427562831139452014-10-23T12:52:09.542+01:002014-10-23T12:52:09.542+01:00That break looks familiar, I have one just like it...That break looks familiar, I have one just like it.Mike Silviushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10406468736304441962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3078806588853616263.post-71212687331709779512014-10-23T11:08:25.047+01:002014-10-23T11:08:25.047+01:00I think some trees get old and become dangerous an...I think some trees get old and become dangerous and its time to replace them with young trees.
