Work With Me

Blog

I started this blog In 2012 as a great way to record our story here on our little homestead. I wanted to keep a diary to show our progress and so family could see it.

Over the years blogging has become so much more than just a simple diary, it's way for me to interact, learn and share with people.

I've tried to make sure I keep my personality with my blog, it's a part of who I am. I try to keep it light hearted and witty but I also try to show every side to this type of lifestyle, the highs and the lows. I try to keep my posts engaging and relevant my readers and publish regular updates of our life here and always have great engagement with my readers.

Social Media

I am active on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and post regular updates of life here. My Facebook in particular has great reach, with over 1000 followers and post engagement reaching over 20,000 on some posts, this is a great way to promote my blog and brands that I support.

Writing

I've written for national and local magazines as well as being featured as an expert on forums on certain subjects. Lately I've written for The Hedge, Homefarmer and Country Smallholding.

Talks
I've given a talk for a number of years at Hellen's Garden Festival as well as talks for gardening clubs in surrounding counties.

I also do a number of talks on all things homesteading. From a history of our smallholding (including things like delivering our son on the bathroom floor), to talks on the unusual vegetables I grow or preserving the harvest. My talks are always funny, hugely energetic and engaging.

Carpentry

My woodwork is always a passion in my life. I'm very fortunate to love what I chose as a trade. I tend to only work very close to home but I do enjoy working on particularly unusual projects and can occasionally be persuaded out of the village! I do also sometimes make things to order, especially when they're linked with the self-sufficient lifestyle.

Find my Carpentry blog here.

Homesteading Products

I've created a range of non plastic products for the garden and homestead. I've tried to think of things that people will find really useful and look good in their shed or greenhouse.

They are all built using reclaimed pine. You can find my Etsy Shop here to see my complete range.
