New Year Ended With A Bang

 We've been busy off seeing family, a trip to Stratford theatre on Tuesday night to see the BFG (which was amazing), then yesterday we were having a fairly lazy day before going off to see friends. 

My wife went for a run and tripped and fell, the first we heard was from some people who saw it happen, who luckily brought her home. She was covered in blood and straight away I could see she had cut her head pretty deep. 

So we left the children and I took her to the local injuries, they took one look and told us to go to A&E. We didn't have to wait too long when we got there, about an hour after being seen initially for a quick assessment. They said she'd need stitches and she ended up having nine above her eyebrow. 

We told our friend, who's house were going to for new years, as we were in hosptial, and she went to collect them. The girls had been baking all afternoon for the party and were ready to go. 

When my wife and I got home from the hospital we were a bit wiped out. But I came back tot he log basket full of logs, the fire lit and burning away nicely, chickens shut in, workshops all locked up. I was very proud of how our children dealt with it all. 

My wife stayed in for new years, I managed to drag myself out for a few hours, it was lovely being with friends, but also I couldn't help but worry about my wife (especially as it's her head she hit). 

This morning she is obviously a little tender, still shook up and still tired as her body tries to heal.

 Happy New Year everyone!

We've had a great time over Christmas, and I do love this weird time where I have to constantly ask what day of the week it is, but I also look forward to getting back into routine. 

I managed to have a good bit of time in the workshop completing a project I wanted to sell today, so that feels a bit more normal.

We had a great time last night seeing in the New Year with a few friends, a lovely laid back evening, with some great food and company. All the children get on so well as well (there was 10 children to 6 adults), they played board games all night! 

My wife made cheesy garlic bread to take with us! 

We met up with lots of family over the time between Christmas and New year, and even had tickets bought for us to go to the theatre in Oxford to see War Horse with my wife's side of the family. I'm not sure I can describe how good War Horse was, it got a standing ovation at the end and it was completely deserved, it made me cry multiple times and was visually stunning as well! I've been around a lot of animals in my life and for the the whole play you'd believe these were real, you forget the puppeteers are even there. I know its been around for a long time, but if you've not seen it I really urge you to, you won't be disappointed. 

So here's wishing you all Happy New Year, thank you for following and encouraging me. I can see 2025 being a good one.

 We had a lovely start to the New Year with a nice easy evening with some friends in the village, the children playing and watching a few films while we saw the New year in. Today has been a very lazy one, but things will have to pick up a gear next week as everyone goes back to school (and I go back to workshop work). 

I did manage to film a quick walk around the garden last night before we went out. I think it's interesting to see the garden after our cold snap, it's affected some veg pretty badly, and making me realise that I was probably far to complacent with mild winters of the past. Oh well, a good learning experience! 

Hope 2023 brings you all you need. We have one big change coming as our eldest will be moving up to secondary school this year so I'm sure that will bring many parenting adventures!
