I honestly try not to take on too many jobs away from the homestead these days. I find I can find enough work from here to make the money I need to survive, I have accepted I'll never be rich, but I have a good life balance I think.
I do take on work with my mate Brian though, he's fun to work with an the projects are normally unusual, which I enjoy.
This house is no exception. We needed to rebuild the shed, that was part of the roof. and then the whole house needs cladding. The little bit of roof/shed was quite a bit of work to be honest. Especially in the heat we've been having. And we managed to make a start on the cladding of the house. this is a thin layer of insulation on the outside, a wood board. It's enough to make a difference to the heating system inside, and it should help keep the house cooler in the summer months.
It's then clad with larch feather edge boarding. I have a feeling it's going to look much nicer than the grey concrete render it had before.
I sometimes wonder about insulating the outside of our own home, we need to plan for the heat as much as the winter these days.

Interesting. Haven't seen timber used as insulation here.
