Sewing Birthday Party

I know everyone says where do the years go but I really feel like that at the moment. My eldest turned 8 last month, and I know that there's a few on here that started following the blog when I started and she was just a couple of months old! 

My wife outdid herself with this cake!

She is turning into an incredible human being and is wise beyond her years at times. She very much knows her interests, what she likes and doesn't like. Last year we had a very "normal" type of party for her but I knew she didn't love it, as a few of the girls that came were quite loud and controlling. 

Young Crafter

If you read this blog then no doubt you'll have worked put that we're a practical family. 

Both side of the family are practical, On my side my father is a farmer and an agriculture engineer, my mother was a flower arranger but is also trained in soft furnishings and does many other crafts, my sister designs fabric and wallpaper for a living and my brother is a tree surgeon. 

On my wife's side her father is a mechanic, her mother and grandmother are both amazing knitters and her brother is a car sprayer. 

So it's no wonder that our children seem drawn to anything practical or craft based. 

Sewing is certainly one that has grabbed my eldest daughter attention. She is fascinated by it. She loves anyone spending time with her showing her how to make something and picks up the skills really quickly. If any clothes break or tear she is the first to say she'll fix it!

Veg Bag

Mum came over the other day, she always brings something for the kids to do whilst she's here. 

She knows that they love crafts, so it's normally something craft based she can bring with her.

She'd found these bags from a pound shop that came with a set of pens.

The one side you just colour in a picture of some fish but the other side is blank. I told my daugheter she could draw what ever she wanted, I said just draw whatever interests you.

She drew veggies!

On the bag now there's carrots, beetroots, tomatoes, lettuces, sweetcorn, the list goes on! It really made me smile when she did it.

This little girl sure does love her gardening! 

My Wife's Knitting

My wife is, in my opinion, a bit of an expert knitter. 

In the past she has knitted many things, clothes to wear, an excellent pair of fingerless gloves for me, she's even run knitting clubs in some of the schools she's worked at in the past. 

 This is her latest creation, a pram blanket for the baby. 

Lovely I'm sure you'll agree. 

She did start it over four years ago and has intended to finish it for each baby! But it's done now and looks great, some complicated rows involved as well. I certainly haven't got the patience for it. 

Squidgy Rabbit

My sister is a rather clever with textiles and loves making things.

She's just written a blog post on a rather lovely squidgy rabbit she made for my youngest daughter when she was born.
