Eden - Channel Four

I've been intrigued by a programme channel four have been advertising for a while now.
It's called Eden and it sets 23 adults into the wilds of Scotland to start again.
They have a good selection for tools, plenty of food to start with, a large number of seedlings, seeds and fruit plants, and lots of stock.
After watching the first episode I came away feeling like I always do with programmes of this sort, I wish they sent some proper adults with a proper work ethic.
A lot of it can be down to editing but they don't look the most organised group, goats running through the camp eating what they want, not getting the garden sorted straight away, building a sweat lodge instead of concentrating on better shelter for the group, the list goes on. There's also been early romances and lots of lovey dovey stuff that could make things more awkward at a later date if things go sour, again many of them are acting like children which is annoying the older ones in the group.
I still think it's going to make for some interesting watching and I enjoyed the first episode.

Who else has watched it or is planning to?

What did you think?

  1. we watched it last night, and thought the only sensible one is the one who wants to set up camp on his own will carry on watching to see how it develops

    1. I was shouting to the screen, why is no one listening to the survival expert!

  2. I knew as soon as I saw a goat eating someones' rice pudding that the goats would get sick, so irresponsible and the goat died for entertainment for the TV viewers???? I think they should have the SPCA in and be prosecuted! And a vet amongst them too! (too busy getting his rocks off!). As for Jasmine, she needs a belt at the side of the head and waking up to reality! That sums it up, another 'reality show' that gets the viewer ratings up? Well, this viewer won't be watching it again and seriously thinking of putting in a complaint!! Phew! got that off of my chest!

    1. Don't you mean Princess Jasmine? There's a snowflake if ever I saw one.

  3. Didn't watch it and not planning to, they're all the same these programmes, they never have 'real' people on them who are really interested in doing things properly and taking it seriously. Ray Mears would be turning in his grave. If he was dead that is...!

  5. I have recorded it but not watched it yet.

I thought the premise sounded good, until I saw the publicity photos of the chosen people and realised they were all of an age and pretty good looking, then I thought 'here we go again'. But reading about them I found they (on paper) had all the necessary skills to actually pull this off, but now reading your post and the comments under it I think my first thought could have been the right one :-(

I'll give it a go, but I may not stay watching for long.

  6. We havent caught up with it yet but as soon as I get chance i'm looking forward to seeing how things develop. Like you say, if they put 30 like minded people like us to the task who knows how successful it could be, but when they throw a group of braindeads together its anyone's guess what could happen

  7. I watched this when they announced it and started showing it, but then the episodes stopped, apparently they will be restarting soon, but who knows. I have tried to keep up with what's happening behind the scenes, but there are varying reports about who is actually still there and who has left in the interim, but they are making plans for a second season bizarrely.
