I think like most people we're guilty of not doing the attractions that are right on your doorstep.

We sat on the bed for ages trying to decide where to go for the day and in the end decided that neither of us fancied driving so somewhere local would be ideal. We saw that Eastnor Castle had circus skills on as an extra attraction so thought that would be a great way to entertain the kids for a while.
Eastnor isn't like many castles in the UK, it's far more modern and built more as a display of wealth rather than for defence. But it is beautiful and has so many things for families to do there.
The tightrope was their favourite and they spent ages going back and forth across it, keeping their heads up like they were told!
There was also such a great playground for the kids and they spent ages playing there. It was lovely as it wasn't too busy so they could get and play on anything they wanted.
The castle itself is huge, the girls loved looking in all the rooms and trying on the helmets and trying to spot the hidden white mice. Most rooms were bigger than our house I think! Must be terrible to heat though...

We also went for a lovely woodland walk around the grounds. Some amazing trees and a great rope swing off one of them! The kids loved this and probably would have spent all day on it given the chance!
The maze almost broke us as a family though... It's not an easy maze and the kids kept trying to run off in different directions! It took us two attempts to get to the middle but a huge sense of satifaction when we did!
Such a lovely day out and such a great way to spend our anniversary!
