Reclaimed Quarry Tile Floor

Well today I got the flooring for our new porch.
Trouble is I haven't built the porch yet!
Still I was on a job and these quarry tiles were up for grabs so I decided to get them in advance for our future porch.
I think these reclaimed tiles will look amazing when they're cleaned up and they're very in period for our 1950's home. I love a being able to fit a floor covering like this as you know it will last forever and will be great for an area filled with muddy boots and wellies!

  1. We have something similar in our hall/utility/kitchen looks great but cold on bare feet :)

  2. Result! Have you seen the price of reclaimed quarry tiles? (Especially in France...)

We have what they call 'tomettes' around the house, and yes, they are cold to bare feet - delicious in summer, but in winter, we wear socks and slippers anyway as these old houses are so draughty.

    1. Not sure how much they are but I'm sure they're more expensive than free! Slippers area must in our house. Our friends even bring them with them when they come to visit!

  3. I like the look of that old tile, I suppose that somewhere some have actually worn out but it would take a few hundred years of heavy use. I doubt you will have any problems with them.

    1. It would take some sort of scrubbing to wear out these tiles I can tell you! The only trouble is I've got to clean off the old mortar before I can lay them (and build the porch!)

  5. Over here the "reclaimed" stuff has become the new shiek.... and accordingly runs premium pricing, thus defeating the whole point.

    1. Yeah it's the same over here but if you can get in there first it's not too bad!

  6. Putting the floor before the roof is what we would call getting ahead of yourself!

    1. I think so - I've got the space to store them so why not!

  8. More and more people are turning to this as they work longer hours to make ends meet, however most people are not aware of the best methods for getting the most out of your house cleaner. Can You Use a Steam Mop on a Carpet?
