Peak Porridge

I think I've reached "peak Porridge" now. This is the perfect breakfast!

We have a grated russet apple (shared between us) from the store, dried damsons from the pantry, frozen cherries from my friends farm in the summer and raisins (no idea where they're from). Then cooked organic oats with goats milk and a sprinkle of brown sugar or honey on top!

I've always been a bit breakfast obsessed and think it's really important, I can never understand how my wife can just miss it out, but then I've always worked manually (although she does plenty of walking around in her job).

What's your best way to start the day? (sorry this is a repeating theme!)

  1. Monday to Friday, porridge for hubby, smoothie for me, Saturday cereals and Sunday toast with home made bread.

  3. 1/2 cup of oats mixed with 1 cup of yogurt, often with one serving of whey. Pretty much every day of the week for the last 4 years or so. Coffee to taste.

  4. I have porridge every morning for breakfast. I always add blueberries from the shop plus some item of fruit grown in our garden. At the moment it's apple but when they have all been used up I have blackcurrants, raspberries and blackberries in the freezer and they should last until there is new fresh fruit to pick. I need breakfast more than any other meal.

  5. We have pared our porridge back to oats water milk, followed by a cup of green tea for him and redbush for her. We had to wean him off all the syrup, honey, sugar, jam, (diabetes)...she never did sweeten hers......Porridge is the ultimate breakfast and not in the least expensive. We make porridge for two 7 days a week for less than 70p.
